I am the Music Director and one of the founding members of Faith Fellowship Church in Alton, IL (right across the river from St. Louis, MO). We are a rapidly growing church hopefully providing strong spiritual grounding to those new in the faith as well as those who have been life-long believers.
Musically, I am all over the map. I have played everything from rock and punk to jazz and bluegrass. If it is good and honest, I am interested. In the mid-80s, while trying to reconcile my love of old country and punk rock, I stumbled into the alt-country and alt-rock genres. Frankly, that is where my playing still falls though I can wander outside of that at will.
Though once on the professional side of the business, I really enjoy my new status as volunteer. There is something very freeing and enjoyable about being able to use a God-given gift expecting nothing in return.
Our entire band is made up of volunteers, some “ex-pros” and some weekend warrior types. They are all extremely dedicated and over the past couple years, we have grown so much as a group. I can even hear improvements from month to month as I listen to past recordings. We believe we have all been called together for a specific purpose and are doing our best to fulfill that. As a leader, it is very gratifying to see this many people pull along side and labor together.
